As we decipher and adapt to an uncertain future, one striking conclusion is how vulnerable our tightly intertwined and interdependent international system is. Through my piece, I seek to play with the idea of “the domino effect” and inquire about the roles we play in shaping our collective society. The ‘grains of rice’ fabricated by stitches and sutures is a metaphor for the countless lives touched and supported by our farmers and other essential workers each day during these times. Their relentless hard work is creating a ripple effect that can be felt across communities, much like the small stitches making a complete ecosystem of a neighbourhood, a city, a country, and this planet.
